At Wickham Primary School, students in Year 3 to year 6 study Indonesian.
The Program gives students an introduction to the Indonesian language. The focus is on speaking, listening, reading and writing Indonesian as well as learning about the culture and geography of one of our closest neighbours.
Students learning is supported through the use of online resources, books, games, stories, songs and art. You can support your child at home by downloading the Languages Online app for Indonesian.
By learning a second language in primary school, students benefit by developing a deeper understanding of their first language, it strengthens their memory and accelerates brain development. Learning another language challenges children to discover more about how other people live and opens their mind up to different cultures and ways of life.
